Welcome to the Computer Knowledge tutorial on computer viruses. We’ll discuss what they are, give you some history, discuss protection from viruses, and mention some of the characteristics of a virus hoax.
Keep in mind that not everything that goes wrong with a computer is caused by a computer virus or worm. Both hardware and software failure is still a leading cause of computer problems.
You can read each page in turn and use the navigation buttons at the bottom of each page or by using the contents for each category. To jump around, the best method would be to bring up the Table of Contents in one window and then Control-click on the items you wish to read. Control-clicking will open the page in another window or tab so the Table of Contents is always quickly available.
