PDC - Primary Domain Controller

(P-D-C)

A job assigned to a computer in a Windows NT network. Under NT, resources are organized into domains with one computer assigned to control the database that defines who has access to which resource. This is the Primary Domain Controller (other computers may be assigned the role of BDC or Backup Domain Controller). The network administrator sets up and maintains the PDC domain information. (In Windows 2000 the PDC/BDC role is termed Active Directory.)
