GDI - Graphics Device Interface

(G-D-I)

Standard graphics functions provided by Windows. Use of these functions allows Windows to control how graphics are displayed on the screen and printed, freeing up the programmer to consider more important things.

Also, sometimes called Graphic Display Interface and used to represent the graphics adaptor hardware.
