FIFO - First In, First Out

(fife-oh)

A method of storage and retrieval where the first item stored is the first item retrieved. Think of FIFO as a pipe: whatever you put in one end of the pipe comes out the other end in the same order as it was put in. (Opposite: LIFO.)
