Zero Day Initiative
(Z-D-I)
A zero day attack is a security attack on a computer that occurs against a vulnerability in the computer before a fix is available for that vulnerability or even before the vulnerability is known by the maker of the hardware/software being attacked. While rare, these types of attacks are becoming more common as the time between when a vulnerability is found and a fix is available gets shorter and shorter. The Zero Day Initiative The Zero Day Initiative (ZDI) was founded by 3Com and TippingPoint, a division of 3Com and represents a model for rewarding security researchers for responsibly disclosing discovered vulnerabilities.
