Wireless Equivalent Privacy
(whep)
WEP is a security protocol designed for wireless local area networks (WLAN). It is defined in the 802.11b standard. WEP uses the RC4 stream cipher for security but implements it in a less secure manner and a number of papers have been published regarding the weaknesses of WEP. Use WEP only in conjunction with other security methods if you need privacy.
