T-One
(tee-one)
A leased line carrying 1.544 Mbps DS1-formatted digital data (often used for Internet connections). T1 lines are generally unshielded twisted pair wires (two pairs are required: one for outgoing traffic and one for incoming traffic). Transmission characteristics require a repeater to reconstruct the signal roughly every 6,000 feet. Information on a T1 line is in the timing of signals, not the amplitude.
