Static Random Access Memory
(es-ram)
High speed memory that does not require the constant refreshing DRAM needs (though, like DRAM, when power is no longer applied SRAM erases itself). While preferred for many computer uses, SRAM is rather expensive because of the additional components that make it up. SRAM is typically used for cache memory.
