Point-to-Point Protocol
(P-P-P)
An Internet protocol that allows error-correcting connection to an ISP via a modem (serial point-to-point connection). PPP can operate over both asynchronous and bit-oriented synchronous connections. PPP can also encapsulate other protocols to allow them to work over the same link (PPPTP). (See also SLIP.)
