Multistation Access Unit
(mau)
A device that allows a token-ring network to be physically connected as a star (so that bad nodes are easy to lock out) yet appear as a ring for the network. Ring In/Ring Out connectors allow multiple MAUs to be connected into a larger ring. (Sometimes abbreviated as MSAU.)
