Welcome to the CKnow knowledge base of acronyms and terms. The various terms are organized into alphabetical categories. Please choose from the alphabetic lists. You can use the search box but CKnow uses Google site search and if the portion of the site you are interested in has not yet been indexed the search might not reveal what is really present.

Numbers & Symbols
For the purists, CKnow has elected to use the general term "acronym" to mean both acronym and initialism. An acronym was originally a pronounceable word formed from the initial letter or letters of the constituent words, such as RADAR, from RAdio Detection And Ranging, while an initialism refers to an abbreviation pronounced as the names of the individual letters, such as XHTML. Each acronym page has a pronunciation guide for the term. Basically, if you see a pronunciation then it's an acronym; if you see just the letters divided by a hyphen, then it's an initialism.
Many pages have "More Information" links on them as CKnow is not attempting to come up with the definitive, complete reference for any given topic. However, as time allows, entries are being expanded with additional information. If you have suggestions for adding to the links or summary comments to add to a particular entry please use the "Contact Us" link to send the information to the Webmaster (be certain to include the specific page in your comments; CKnow doesn't read minds
).
