Insert Mode

When entering data or typing a document you usually have the choice of insert mode where text is entered at the cursor location and everything else in the form or document is pushed to the right as data is entered, or overwrite mode where the cursor moves to the right as text is entered but all data the cursor passes over is replaced by the newly entered data.

Typically, a keyboard will have an Insert or Ins key which toggles the keyboard's operation between insert and overwrite modes.
