Graphical User Interface
(gooey)
A consistent set of graphical rules that allows a user to work with a computer. As a text interface one might command: ERASE FILE. In a GUI one might select and drag FILE to an image of a trash can. The GUI concept was originally developed at Xerox's PARC laboratory in the early 1970s.
