Floppy Disk Drive
(F-D-D)
A drive that can read and/or write to floppy disks. Used originally for disks that would actually flip/flop when held by the side and waved (8- and 5.25-inch disks), FDD was extended to the hard-shelled 3.5-inch disks when they became popular.
