Electroluminescent Display
(E-L-D)
A flat panel display technology that places a thin phosphorescent film between two plates. Each plate is coated with a wire grid and the grids are aligned at right angles to each other. Current crossing at a horizontal/vertical intersection will generate a pixel. LCD and gas-plasma displays are used more often.
