Extended Data-Out Random Access Memory
(E-D-O-ram)
This is a specialized form of DRAM. It's overall design speeds memory access over DRAM by anticipating the location of a memory access following the current one and setting up the chip to process subsequent memory requests at the same time the current one is being accessed. EDO RAM is usually found with Pentium processors and appropriate (e.g., Triton) chipsets. Using it with slower processors would not take advantage of the memory's speed.
