Directory Interchange Format

(dif)

A standard for creating directory entries describing data. The DIF is a collection of fields detailing specific information about the data. The DIF is compatible with the U.S. federally mandated Federal Geographic Data Committee's Content Standard on Digital Geospatial Metadata (CSDGM).
