Capability Maturity Model Integration
(C-MM-I)
A Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering Institute initiative to create a structured view of process improvemenet across an organization. CMMI helps to integrate separate organizations, set process improvement goals, provide guidance for quality processes, and provide a yardstick of appraising current practices.
Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Integrated Product and Process Development, and Supplier Sourcing are the four disciplines involved in creating CMMI models.
The expected CMMI benefits include reduction in systems integration and test time along with a higher probability of success.
