Certificate Authority
(C-A)
A trusted source for digital certificates used as part of virtual private networks and electronic commerce (as two examples). The primary focus of a CA is to verify identities; i.e., if the CA says a transaction is from a particular person or company then you can trust that's who it's from. The verification process uses digital certificates.
