Bulletin Board System
(B-B-S)
The classic BBS is a dial-up system where messages are exchanged and files uploaded or downloaded. There are many such systems around the world. A newer incarnation of a similar nature also exists on the Internet and is in use by companies and governments. [Note: Do not confuse the distributed usenet newsgroup system with a BBS. You mark yourself for ridicule if you do.]
