Automatic Repeat Request (or Admission Request)

(A-R-Q)

Repeat request concerns requests to resend corrupted data. Admission request concerns LAN access authorization. Authorization can be based on a number of things (e.g., bandwidth) or nothing (null function). Messages used for this authorization include Admission Request (ARQ), Admission Request Confirm (ARC), and Admission Request Reject (ARJ). Or, may be based on Bandwidth Request, Confirm and Reject (BRQ/BCF/BRJ) messages.
