Arithmetic (and) Logic Unit
(al-loo [sometimes] A-L-U [mostly])
The part of the CPU that does the actual computing. In general, these operations include addition, subtraction, and multiplication of integers along with bit-wise boolean operations (e.g., AND, OR, NOT, XOR).
